I just wanted to tell you that I think your site is wonderful The layout is
great and the content is excellent. Thanks so much for sharing all the
articles and photos. I know you created the site as an alternative to some
of the sensational material that is out there on Oliver. He truly was a
tremendous talent, and that aspect of his persona deserves attention. Thanks
again for all the work it surely took to launch your site.
Cheers,

After searching the web for hours to find Hannibal brooks on dvd I would like to tell you I have a copy.I have read loads of reviews of the film all saying that it should be on dvd.
I found that www.amazon.co.jp have copies so I went for it.Although the site is Japanese there is help in English so I bought a copy.My wife said it would be no good as it would be dubbed in Japanese but it came yesterday and it is in English with jap subtitles which can be switched off.
also you don't need a multi region dvd to play it as it is region 2 which is the uk spec
I just had to tell someone as im so pleased

Complements on your site. Enjoyed re-reading the articles about this
fascinating, dangerous and charming man. His life was his own and that
took courage, but let's not forget how good he was on screen. Your site
will help remind us. Thanks, JAP

A truly wonderful site, a fitting tribute to the UK's finest and most outrageous character of all time. I have been trying to look for T-shirts for my stag do in Amsterdam in May with Ollie as the focal point. I have found some good sites but would be grateful to anymore suggestions.
Again, well done on a fabulous site.

Dear Sir or Madam,
I can't pretend that this is anything other than a shameless sales ploy but thought that you might be interested for your 'Links' section! My only excuse is that I am only obeying orders! Your more serious Oliver Reed fans might be interested to know that there is a fine art, stretched canvas print of Oliver Reed available from the Eye Candy Gallery at www.eyecandygallery.com The reference for the print is:- REX_119603 80x120cm £450 (B+W h/s Oliver Reed wearing top hat and monocle, smoking cigar). Best wishes, Matthew. PS. I do actually like seeing Ollie in action - always watchable, whatever he was in! His performance on a late night chat show - in the company of some humourless academics/feminists - holds a special place in my memory. I recall that the show was pulled for 'technical reasons' and not, of course, because Ollie had been knocking back the wine by the half pint. Matthew Greenland Private Sales Rex Features Ltd |

Hi , I like your site , it is very good , I was always wondering where the film location of the flats were in sitting target and now I know , I have always wondered though why Harry Lomart aims his gun at the flat window in nearly daylight but when he shoots the gun it is now night time and the window and the flats light is on , then more lights go on as people are waking up to the gunshot but when he gets kicked by birdy it is now daylight again , If I ever find out how this happened I will let you know ,it was still a cracking film though and the film score was good too , anyway as I was saying nice site and keep up the good work , regards Olly fan

Excellent website with a nice clean design. The articles and interviews section is fantastic and the gallery is great too. So often celebrity web sites have nothing new or informative on them yet yours has it all in spades. The only other site I've seen like this is Kubrick web site.
Mr. Reed was a unique gentleman with an enviable character. I'm very pleased that someone has taken on the job of curating the great man's memory in a proper and fitting manner.
Sometimes you wish you could go back and live through the sixties and seventies again just to be around when he was.
Thanks,
- Bruce

I HAD THE PRIVILEDGE TO MEET OLIVER REED IN 1963/4 IN A PUB ON TOP OF WIMBLEDON HILL. HE HAD AN AIR OF NOTORITY ABOUT HIM EVEN THEN.
WE MET ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, HE TOOK HIS WORK AND HIS DRINKING VERY SERIOUSLY.I LIKE TO THINK HE LIVED LIFE TO THE FULL AND WAS HAPPY.
WHAT AN ACTOR, COULD MAKE THE HAIRS STAND UP ON THE BACK OF YOUR NECK.

I was delighted to find your site on Oliver Reed. I've been a fan
since I saw him in "Oliver" when I was a child. I admired his talent
but also his lust for life. He never apologized for who he was--
something that is so rare in today's society.
Thank you for your tribute to one of the great actors of the
twentieth century!

i have been a fan of ollie since i cant remeber when...
one of the true greats of the entertainment world, he certainly entertained me with his on and off screen talents.
i remember seeing him on 'the word' channel 4 around 1994/5, he was as drunk as a skunk and sang 'wild thing' with 'neds atomic dustbin'. he was wearing a very daper mickey mouse bomber jacket with no shirt and i remember being shocked by the size of his beer belly! i dont see this appearance in his television credits?
love the site, well done.
reast in peace ollie.

Hello everyone.
I'm just back from the Wee bush inn, Carnwath, Scotland where Ollie used
to drink incognito...
It felt really weird. I only wish he could have been there - we would
have had a blast. I'm sure he was there in spirit though.

dear sirs: i, of course, have known of oliver reed since i was eleven years old, and saw photographs of him in advertisements in my local newspaper, the waterbury republican-american, for women in love. looking back as an adult, i recalled that, at age ten, i had also seen him in advertisements in same for the wonderful hannibal brooks, and had actually seen him give one of his greatest performances, as the most cruel and evil, but also, equally charismatic, thief, bill sikes, in oliver!, the 6-oscar winner directed by mr. reed's uncle, sir carol reed (best director, 1968). however, i never actually became a fan of this great actor until on the eve of my graduation from boston college, i saw his brilliant--and greatly historically accurate--portrayal of perhaps the most underrated general of the 20th century, the veteran italian soldier, rodolfo graziani, mussolini's finest commander, in the magnificent lion of the desert, a film that i have seen twelve times--each of those dozen viewings being time well-spent!
on the expert advice of my mother--god rest her brilliant, overwhelmingly compassionate soul!--i added mr. reed to the number of fine actors i had chosen to profile for a self-appointed project of mine, a book entitled the villains, a study of some of the greatest bad guys in stage, television, and, especially, movie history, and how my--and my mother's!--judgment to number him among this legion of evildoers has proven a most wonderful inclusion.
unfortunately, however, despite a few conversations toward setting up an interview with david reed, oliver's manager--and brother--i was never able to speak with the great man himself. that is why i am now contacting this website--to call on all fans of oliver reed--and any people who knew--or, at the very least, briefly met--this great actor, to write me at perryzanett@yahoo.com, and tell me of their experiences with reed, and--especially if they worked with him--their personal and professional opinions of him as well. i would also be grateful for any dvds they could sell, loan, or--quite frankly--give me (as well as, of course, any information with which they could provide me concerning these items), that feature oliver, especially those of his more obscure films, such as blue blood and superbrain. come to think of it, is there a dvd of the 90-minute premiere of the short-lived espionage-adventure television series, masquerade, which featured ollie in what was then an extremely rare american-television appearance as a kgb assassin, as well?
well, that's all for now.i thank you for reading this communication, and, above all, i thank those that set up this website where the man who was quite possibly the greatest actor of his generation can be honored and discussed, as is his rightful due.
sincerely,
perry j. zanett |

It's great!! I was so disappointed when I thought it might be down for good. I'm in the process of trying to read/see everything on it. I didn't realize I was so smitten with him. Remembered seeing him in 'Oliver!' and after that saw no more but I remembered him very well, though after awhile I forgot his name. Then saw 'Oliver!' again recently and remembered why I remembered him! I had no idea he was such a character. What a guy. Never be another like him. Gonna have to see some more of the movies of his that I missed all these years. Thanks for such a wonderful website.

thank you!
dear people (and fellow ollie fans),
i have discovered your comprehensive site only recently and have found it compelling and useful (especially in bringing back memories). i'm not a person who idolizes movie actors and/or stars (i call them "plastic people"), but i have to say that oliver, like very few of them, holds a special place in my life and heart. in a way, you can say that he "rescued" me from adolescence ugliness and launched me into hopeful, active and free womanhood. the charm of his personality only served to better convey that unconventional, non conformist, wild view of life, a view that i almost completely subscribe. i would have been delighted to write down for you my encounter with him, but i never met him in person... however, i have a question/suggestion to make: why not affiliate the site to amazon? i would imagine that you don't want to tarnish the site with any commercial enterrpise, but it would help finance the project. don't you say? another thing, which just came into my mind because of the venice film festival taking place these days: how about promoting actively an award to his career, albeit postumously? sorry for the ramblings and thanks again! take care, marina |
